Talk:Girish Karnad
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A number of websites claim that Karnad was at Magdalen College, Oxford. I found this while researching an article on John Keay, the popular historian, who apparently was roommates at Magdalen with Karnad. See www.johnkeay.com for details. --Peripatetic 15:52, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] No mention about his Dharwad background?
Would appreciate if someone could shed some light on his background in Dharwad. For eg -- he did his intermdeiate there (in Karnatak Univ?). I do know that he had chosen Hindi for his language class (this is apart from the basic curriculum) there. I believe he went to Oxford to get a degree in Mathematics. By anecdotal recollection. I believe he was involved (to what extent I don't know) in some student activism, inhis Oxford Days. He knows Marathi too, because of his North Karnataka (Bombay Presidency in his impressionable years) background. But typically, all Karnads speak Konkani at home. Any people from Bangalore/Hubli/Dharwad shed light on above-mentioned items?
[edit] Updated article including Dharwad
I've updated the article including his Dharwad background with the help of sources I found online http://www.imagi-nation.com/moonstruck/clsc79.html. Gnanapiti 00:09, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
