I'm noticing the entire Invader Zim related articles are a mess, really. Much (if not all) of this page is duplicated on Invader Zim. This really needs to be cleaned up: either merge the articles, or point the Invader Zim section on Gir to here.

If you do any cleanup, GIR and Gir now point to this page instead of Invader Zim.

GIR's definition on the main Invader Zim page is now succint. This page remains untouched.

[edit] Move

  • Comment - GIR is too common a TLA... I went googling and found a handful that are definitely encyclopedic, albeit not yet written up for Wikipedia. I've put in a TLAdisambig on the GIR namespace. -The Tom 16:23, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
  • That's good enough for me. --Apostrophe 22:22, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. Disambig seems sufficient and appropriate. Dragons flight 21:50, August 22, 2005 (UTC)

I have removed "GIR is loved by everyone that watches the show. He can be smart, but most of the time he is childlike and psychotic." from the end of the article as it's an opinionated statement and the second half is redundant.

...I love you, GIR. ^_^

Tonight I revised pretty much all of the GIR article - made it much less wordy, corrected many misplaced modifiers and run-ons, fixed misspelled words, and regularized the Quotes section. Many of the quotes were typed in all caps and with an unnecessary number of exclamation points. Looks much better now. --Penguinonice4 05:15, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

I just revereted edits by an anny - was my revert ok?--Bhadani 15:30, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

I just got rid of some repeated phrases about the creation of Gir, and some other bits that were in the first section of the article.--User:sbpat21 9:43, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Quotes

As the quotes section here was an unnecessary duplication of material found at http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Invader_Zim I have deleted it entirely. J. Random Lurker 20:46, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] G.I.R. or GIR?

I think that all the "G.I.R."s should be replaced with "GIR"s. No other articles refer to GIR this way and Jhonen Vasquez, when he mentions GIR in various articles and interviews uses "GIR" rather than "G.I.R." So, uh, get to work, Wiki-slaves! MJ 21:29, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

--It oughta be used interchangably, because GIR both stands for something, as well as it being his name.

---Zim:what does the G stand for? GiR:I don't know.

-- well, I figured, according to his behaviour, the G could stand for "gormless"

GIR doesn't stand for anything. SIR does, but GIR doesn't. 24.254.47.90 05:41, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

What about Gir? 66.72.204.235 01:07, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Kinz

--SIR is Standard-issue Information Retrieval Unit, and GIR is made from scrap parts, bubblegum and paperclips. G="Garbage"? Of course, this is complete Original Research but it's interesting.24.34.51.87 (talk) 02:25, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Uh. Bloody Gir.

There is already a page for Bloody Gir. The contents are also almost identical, so the page should either be merged here or the Bloody Gir section should be taken from this page with a link to the other.

Why did someone delete all of the bloody GIR sightings?!?!
Because none of them have been confirmed, besides the one in the screenshot. CovenantD 05:25, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
well i think it would be a goos idea to leave them there because if people think they are there they might confirm them, just leave a needs confirmed note —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.168.209.113 (talk) 22:54, 9 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Internet popularity

Think we should mention how unbelievably popular Gir is throughout the internet?

I would think so too, that image of him dancing is famous throughout the Internet.

[edit] The end of Gir

Although alot of information on Gir is supplied it never actually says what happened to him at the end of the final episode. THis information should be included, so if someone could put it in that would be great. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.224.210.113 (talk) 00:57, 6 December 2006 (UTC).

What are you talking about? Zazaban 21:06, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Also, if you're still watching, please use spoiler warnings, because I have no idea what you're talking about either. Twilytgardnfaery 21:49, 14 February 2007 (UTC) this is very special

 thank you for reading

I've heard about the bloody GIR before. Pretty, huh. I recognize that the name sounds like Göhr in German....You speak it the same way. Göhr is a mean form for a child. Like brat! Sorry, if it dosn*t suite in here. Beside, I'd never pronounced it G.I.R......Damn, if only you could feel my rumbelling undead pain! IZ runs on TV in Germany (as I use to call my country GERM-Anny)and they did the whole thing so abscrusely wrong. Puke above them! They've done a mess with all the cool voices of Dib, Zim n' Co.

I'm sorry....again

The English-Version rocks! Sue

[edit] GIR's disguises

St the end of the episose with the irkan invader tak (cant think of the name right now) GIR puts on a suit similar to the disguise used by Tak's SIR unit. Almost like a demonic cat. Dont know if thats worth mentioning in the artical, but i thought id mention it here

[edit] Blood GIR (SVG)

I've created a SVG version of Blood GIR. Took me a little while, but I made it. Now before I upload it, I have a question. Since I remade the image from the ground up and since it doesn't look the exact same, do I hold copyright over the image (not the character)? If so I would like to release it under Creative Commons. If not, oh well. Theyain Riyu (talk) 22:35, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A source that could be used: Jerry Beck's Not Just Cartoons: Nicktoons!

I found a book in the bookstore called Not Just Cartoons: Nicktoons! by Jerry Beck. I'm not going to buy it and join the project, but I will ask the other members to get the book so that they can add real world information about various fictional characters.

This makes the creation of separate articles for *many* fictional characters feasible. Having information about the development of the character will make the articles satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (fiction)

Why add Bloody Gir.He freaks me out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.40.151.148 (talk) 03:15, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
