Girolamo Grimaldi

Girolamo, Cardinal Grimaldi (1674-1733) was baptized in Genoa on November 15, 1674. He graduated from the University of Avignon in 1705. He was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest on April 7, 1709.
He was appointed the titular Archbishop of Edessa in Osrhoƫne in 1712, and created a cardinal in the consistory of October 2, 1730. He became the papal legate in Bologna and in 1731 Legate in the duchies of Parma and Piacenza.
In 1733 while travelling by sea from Naples to Genoa, he became ill, and was taken ashore at Ischia, he died there on November 18, 1733. His body was taken to Genoa and buried in the church of S. Filippo.
