"Girlfriend" is the third and final single from boy band 'N Sync's third album, Celebrity. It was the last single the group released together. There are two main versions of the song: the album version and a remix which features rapper Nelly. The song, unlike previous 'N Sync releases, possessed a heavy hip-hop influence, thanks to producers The Neptunes. It peaked at #5 in the US and #2 in the UK.
In 2002, the song won a Teen Choice Award for Choice Hook Up.
[edit] Music videos
Two music videos exist for the single. The first was created for the album version, and features only the band. The original album version video was released in December of 2001 and featured the guys dancing on cars, singing to girls, and Justin winning a drag race. The remix version basically dropped Nelly into some shots of the already existing video and had a few re-edits. Both versions were directed by Mark Klasfeld. [1]
