Girl You Know It's True is a 1989 album that was the U.S. debut of pop group Milli Vanilli.
In 1989, the majority of songs from Milli Vanilli's Europe-only release All or Nothing were repackaged and retitled Girl You Know It's True for release in the United States on the Arista label.

[edit] Success
The album spawned five hit singles: the title track, "All or Nothing" and three #1 hits, "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You," "Baby Don't Forget My Number" and "Blame It on the Rain." Milli Vanilli won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist on February 22, 1990.
[edit] Downfall
The group's producer, Frank Farian, revealed to reporters on November 15, 1990, that Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus did not actually sing on any of the songs on the album. As a result, Milli Vanilli's Grammy was withdrawn four days later. Arista Records dropped the act from its roster and deleted their album and its masters from their catalog, making it the largest-selling album to ever be taken out of print.
[edit] Errors
It seems that the project had meddling input from virtually everyone except the duo themselves, and was subject to tinkering even after its release. The track order on the U.S. release is out of sequence with the listing printed on its cover art, and several tracks are listed with the wrong time.
A few of the writers' credits are inconsistent with what is listed in external sources. The decision to replace some of the tracks for the U.S. release was made by Arista Records president Clive Davis.

[edit] Trivia
Although made famous by the group, the title song was actually a cover version. The original was a European dance hit for a group called Numarx [1].
