Gipsy class destroyer
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Three Gipsy class destroyers served with the Royal Navy[1]. HMS Osprey, Fairey and Gipsy were three funnelled 30 knot C class destroyers built by Fairfield with Thorneycroft boilers. The 209 foot long ships were armed with the standard 12-pounder gun and two torpedo tubes and all three served in the First World War in home waters.
- HMS Leven, launched 1898, HMS Falcon, 1899, and HMS Ostrich, 1900, are either grouped as the Falcon class destroyers or as other members of the Gipsy class.
