Giovanni Battista Ferrandini

Giovanni Battista Ferrandini (1710 ? – October 25, 1791) was an Italian composer of the Baroque era.

Giovanni Battista Ferrandini was born in Venice, Italy and died in Munich, aged 81.

The newly constructed Bavarian Court Theatre (Residenztheater) in Munich opened on October 12th. 1753 with Ferrandini's opera "Catone in Utica". After restauration work, the theatre was reopened 250 years later with the re-staging of the same opera. A recording is available (Oehms Classics OC 901).

Other operas: Giordo 1727, Il Sacrifico Invalido 1729, Adriano in Siria 1737. Cantata "Il Pianto di Maria" 1739 Music for the crowning of emperor Karl. VII. in Frankfurt 1742.

In 1755, Ferrandini retired to Padua.

In 1771, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his father Leopold Mozart visited Ferrandini in Padua.
