Adopt me!

I want to be adopted!--Pensil (talk) 00:27, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Sure thing. However, as you'll notice from my message at the top of this page, I'm currently really busy in my current life, so I won't be able to be all that helpful for a few weeks. Tell me a little more about what you'd like to do on Wikipedia and what you want to get out of adoption and then we can go from there. Cheers, Gimme danger (talk) 07:10, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Uhmm... Question

Hello. I realize that you're on break, but I decided to ask this anyway even though I'll probably have to wait a while for a response. I noticed an edit on the Spontoon article. There's a new paragraph about Lewis + Clark using it. After each sentence, though, it says "see this, see that, etc". Shouldn't there be links there instead? And if there should be, how do you make them? Thanks, and have a great time on the Scavhunt!! ;) Ichliebezuko (talk) 15:55, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Yep, good catch. Those should be converted into inline citations. The basic form is this: <ref>Your citation</ref>. I use citation templates to make sure that I have all the relevant information about the source in the correct order. The isbn Database helps me find out information about sources that other editors have forgotten. ISBNs are particularly important for helping readers find sources later. If you have anymore questions, ask here. Happy editing, Gimme danger (talk) 23:26, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

New Article

I've created a new article on Slavic microlanguages, but, since all I really did was translate, and add to, the Russian wiki, I'm not sure that the writing's up to snuff. Help?Szfski (talk) 23:52, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Dude, are you not aware that the HUNT is on? I really can't spend any time here until the 19th, so don't tempt me! --Gimme danger (talk) 03:47, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

hi :)

hello Gimme Danger! i received a welcome from you yesterday. thanks! i am not familiar with the social aspect of Wiki...does everyone get a welcome? or did i draw attention through an unintentional faux pas? if the latter, then i hope it was nothing too terrible. (can't have been b/c of my miniscule contributions list :D) Xwordz (talk) 01:48, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh, no, no faux pas! In theory everyone gets welcomed; we even have a project for it: Welcoming committee. If you're interested in becoming a more active Wikipedian, I'd suggest checking out our adoption program, wherein an experienced editor can help you learn the ropes. If you'd like to do a more do-it-yourself approach, take a look at the WikiProject Neuroscience and related projects if you're interested in things like Clinical depression. --Gimme danger (talk) 03:55, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Supplements for depression

Thank you for the offer. I am just getting my breath back after sertraline FA nomination, so I am not sure I can play any active role in such a project. I could help you out sometimes, but sombody else should drive it. I edited the SJW part mostly because it seemed to me that it is very well researched and widely accepted for the treatment of depression on par with conventional antidepressants. In that respect it is an opposite of most of the nutritional therapies mentioned there. Paul Gene (talk) 15:50, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Help me out here

...with a conversation I'm having with LtPowers on my talk page. In WT:MOS#Strong_objection_to_the_encouragement_of_gender-neutral_language, in your comment timestamped 11:39, you undent a bit. Was that intended to show you were responding to a particular comment, and if so, whose, and would it have been harder to understand your comment without the undent? - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 01:55, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Done. I commented in the relevant discussion on your talk page.--Gimme danger (talk) 04:44, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi

How do I change the title of an article that i created? I want the change the lower-case 'w' to an upper case one. and how do i link it to the equivalent page in the french wikipedia? (on the left hand menu it usually links articles to equivalents in other languages.

thank you Bobobanana (talk) 01:52, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

There should be a tab at the top of your page labeled "move" where you can move incorrectly named pages. You may have to have been registered for four days to use this feature though. If you can't use it, just let me know what page it is and I'll change it. To put in an interwiki link, use [[fr:Title]] for French articles, substituting the French title of the page. To link to other languages, use their two letter abbreviation in place of "fr". --Gimme danger (talk) 16:11, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello!

Gruss dich! I don't know how I even got there, but somehow I ended up on the article for Life's What You Make It (Talk Talk song). There's the section heading for the track listing, then there's a huge gap, then it finally goes to the track listings. How do I fix that? Tschus! A pyrate's life for me... (talk) 15:57, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Tag. I don't see the problem now, but generally when that happens it means that there are extra spaces inserted into the article code. Just erase them and the gaps should go away. Wiederschreiben. --Gimme danger (talk) 16:13, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Wikiproject

Hello. I was thinking about joining the Religion Wikiproject. I'm not really even sure of what my religion is, but I figured that this way, I could learn about different religions, figure out what I believe in, and help Wikipedia at the same time. Only problem is, with summer coming up, I'm going to be pretty busy and won't be able to be on wiki much. Do you think I should join anyway? (it does seem like the less time i think i have, the more time i actually do have, though, so maybe i will have time) A pyrate's life for me... (talk) 15:58, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

I think you ought to join. Even if you don't have a great deal of freetime, you can still help out a ton. Little tasks like wikifying stubs and assessment don't take much time but are critical for WikiProjects. And I'm like that too, the more I have to do, the more editing seems to happen. I'll procrastinate later. ;-)--Gimme danger (talk) 02:19, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

WWS

The Wikipedia Welcome Squad is now in crunch time for the decision on whether to delete or not. Therefore, if you don't mind, please tell why you want the squad. In the discussion the !votes are 7 for, 7 against, and 2 neutral. With 2 admins on the other side, we need more "keeps" to make our case. Happy editing.....--LAAFan 13:52, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Name

If you're named after the song by Iggy & The Stooges, I might throw up that someone so lame likes such great a band. Thanks for being a dickhead about the whole thing. It's like being in school again and you're an arse kissing prefect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.128.140.154 (talk) 02:14, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I am indeed named after a Stooges song. Good on you for picking up on that. --Gimme danger (talk) 02:16, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
