[edit] K-Fed in the song "Gimme More"

In the song "Gimme More" after the words "center of attention" in the background you can hear Britney Spears say "K-Fed."

It has been confirmed she did not say "can you feel that." As she put emphasis on the letter "d" of K-fed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gwenifer (talk • contribs) 01:03, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

She doesn't say "K-Fed", she repeats "tention." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.219.111.5 (talk • contribs) Official lyrics: She says "can you feel this" or "that", don't remember...

[edit] Rolling Stone Review

Its not on the website, the review is in their new issue with the Kanye vs. 50 Cent cover:

3 stars out of 4 Britney Spears, "Gimme More"

It's Britney, Bitch!. And with that, the women who launched a billion blog posts comes back. Timbaland protege Nate "Danja" Hills turns out a spare beat topped with a buzz-synth bass line and a few squelcy flourishes, but it's Britney who's front and "center of attention," unleashing a maniacal giggle and moaning about - honestly, what else? - trying to dance up on somebody in a club packed with gawkers and cameras... you know, just livin'. Though this sexual metaphor masquerading as a song could easily be a castoff from Paris Hilton's debut, "Gimme More" is a also a sleek take on Spears' In The Zone-era synth pop that's catchy, but not as grabby as, say, "Toxic" or a pushy paparazzi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.84.184.246 (talk) 17:06, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Breaking mediabase records

"MediaBase.com, which records airtime plays, is reporting that "Gimme More" has already reached #80 in spins in the U.S. It hasn't even been 24 hours! This makes it the fastest charting song in that amount of time, ever. "

Should we add this to the article? I think it's relative to the article. It is the fatest growing song according to Mediabase in a twenty four hour period ever and they have been doing this for nearly 20 years (they were established in 1987) Skinwalker03 19:54, 31 August 2007

[edit] T.I. remix

There's an official remix with T.I. should it be added as well. Under remixes'? PerezHilton leaked this one as well on his siteSkinwalker03 20:22, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] To make the article less cluttered...

I added a reaction title to the page. It was starting to look jumbled and I simply wanted to organize the article if it's a problem please post hereSkinwalker03 02:14, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Should we semi-protect this? So many content considered as vandalism per Wiki guidelines. BritandBeyonce 09:51, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

It should be fully protected... like her fifth album's article. This way people will stop adding some useless information which still gets through even if it's semi protected. [As well as vandalism]. But I fear by doing this the article will completely stop growing in valuable information, so I guess it's OK to keep it semi-protected, just for now. XD Bull Borgnine 02:56, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

That's it. Thanks to someone who semi-protected this page. We cannot actually fully-protect this article since it's only a newly created and should be expanded. With regards to vandalism, at least, we can identify who did it unlike users who are not signed in or established users, it's hard to control. BritandBeyonce 07:33, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

It is being reported it placed Bubbling Under 100 at 109. Interesting fact: Do Somethin' (released in 2005) reached #100 without any official single release to stores. Just based on downloads!75.57.166.22 04:47, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Can we be objective here

And not put meltdown in the article please? Skinwalker03 03:22, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bubbling Under

I'm not entirely sure that's how the system works, but to my understanding it placed number 9 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100, not 109. 109 would mean it was number 209 on the overall chart. Additionally, not that it really has anything to do with the topic at hand, but "125 on the Hot 100" makes absolutely no sense, so let's try to avoid that, too. Phoenix1304 19:20, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

You're incorrect about that, Phoenix. "Bubbling under" is under the top 100 - thus, #9 on the B.U. chart would mean #109. PatrickJ83 23:34, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Can someone please edit the bit about the VMA performance?

It's really horrendous. Somebody with a grasp of grammar and syntax, please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.107.207.242 (talk) 04:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

The section actually was compromised more on weasel words and is not really an encyclopedic thing. BritandBeyonce 11:43, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I wanted to add more infor to the entry to "Gimme More" but it was locked in Wikipedia, but apparently according to US Magazine (http://usmagazine.com/britney_spears_39) a source tells that Spears was spotted "crying badly [backstage]. She's devastated. She was really nervous and knwo she screwed up." Britney may have know how horrible her performance when a VMA insider said Spears fired her hairstylist right before performing which would explain her horrendous hair. Yet though many viewers have little sympathy for Spears since she was spotted partying 3 nights in a row (until the early morning) before her performance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.3.1.129 (talk) 16:35, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Many fan blog's have stated that MTV decided to axe her performance involving Criss Angel as the Palm Casino Hotel's insurance would not cover the act they wanted to perform. Britney was told to change her performance and had a short space of time to rehearse it.

Do you have sources for that? 75.117.246.215 21:46, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Kayne West has jumped to the defence of Britney Spears, and blamed MTV for ruining her career.

A day after the MTV Video Music Awards held in Las Vegas, West told New York radio station Z100’s JJ, on Sep 10 that the network “exploited” the troubled pop star.

"They exploited Britney in helping to end her career. When Britney was opening [the VMA telecast], near the end, I felt so bad for her. I said, 'Man, it's a dirty game. This game will chew you up and spit you out,’” People quoted West, as saying. 172.201.73.167 14:12, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Are we only going to post negative stuff on the VMA performence?

There are other sources Z100, Hot 99.5 and MTV.com who are saying postive things about the performence? Are we going to post those as well? It seems baised to not include BOTH sides of the arguement. Remember folks we have to keep this article NPOV and we have to show both sides. Not just one. Also we can add that she broke her heel to the article as well. Their are pictures confirming that the heel brokeSkinwalker03 19:12, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

No, only publications that matter. It was overwhelmingly a bomb. Anything else will be seen as trying to make her look good when the fact remains, the majority of writers called it a train wreck. Maddyfan 20:36, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

So MTV would be a source that matters. Several artists stood up for her most notablly Nicole from the Pussycat Dolls, 50 Cent and several other fans commented on MTV as well. IF were going to put a negative up then the postive should be showed as well. As equal oppourtunity and to keep a semblence of NPOV and unbaised enteries. I have no problem with the negative being shown as long as the postive is shown as well. More over we don't need stuff from Yahoo we already have a source for negative reviews and that's been given by NY DailySkinwalker03 21:49, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

What about Sarah Silverman? She should be mentioned. Charmed36 20:53, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

This is getting a little ridiculous don't you all think? The section on the VMA performance is larger than any other part of the article and there are many other sources that praised it or had reasons as to why it didn't do so well. Why are we focusing so much on this particular VMA performance anyway? She performed 'I'm A Slave 4 U' in 2001 and i don't see the VMA performance dominating that article. We're supposed to be objective here, so we should trim it down, or add in another side of the argument. 75.117.246.215 21:41, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I just edited the article and posted some postive stuff about the performence. If anyone has a problem with that just comment on this thread here. I did it because I thought it was important that the article be balanced and be non biased. Skinwalker03 22:03, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure we need such a huge section on the VMA performance in the first place, I've never seen such an article for anyone's public performance and we certainly don't need to know what every celebrity, blog, and poll says. A more condensed version of that section or condensing it and merging it with the 'Reception' section would be more appropriate for an encyclopedia. 75.117.246.215 22:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

Do we really need to add Yahoo music bloggers to the article? Skinwalker03 22:25, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

We can delete the Yahoo stuff since that maybe is a little overkill and makes the article too long, but I think its biased to put a lot of positive stuff in the article since it is clear to anyone who just looks around the internet that the performance has received very negative reaction from a vast majority of people. I have a problem with there being something about how a lot of people loved the performance, since all I've seen is even the most die hard Britney fans say negative things about the performance. Of course there's always going to be some people who liked it, but all I've seen online since last night is articles about how terrible the performance was, thats why I created the section in the first place, because wikipedia is supposed to document notable things, and nothings been more notable on just about every entertainment related site. WIKI-GUY-16 10 September (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by WIKI-GUY-16 (talkcontribs)

Just to note: 1.) The VMA performance SHOULD be mentioned, as it's one of the most notable things about the song, having rapidly become an outright infamous performance. It shouldn't completely take over the article, either, but it should definitely be in there. I realize it seems silly or weird to some people, but it really is, unfortunately, one of the most notable things about the song: that its first public performance was supposed to mark her comeback, and bombed (how badly it bombed depends on who you ask; personally, I've seen and done worse, even without the alleged Magarita, insane pressure, or complicated dance moves, so I'm somewhat sympathetic. Live performances are hard), despite the song eventually doing quite well... though arguably, the attention might have actually helped, but there's not necessarily any real way to confirm such a thing of course. 2.) Be careful how you speak of said performance. There weren't really very many "positives", really, so much as people reacting sympathetically or unsympathetically to it. Plenty of people have claimed she was forced or manipulated into giving the performance; others have claimed it was simply rushed; I've even heard something through the grape vine about, again, a Margarita beforehand... and still others seem to think that if she wasn't ready for a comeback, she shouldn't have attempted it, and react without pity to the incident. But none of this is what I would regard as "positive" per se. NPOV is one thing, but ignoring the truth is quite another; the performance was received neutrally - with pity, understanding, and "I've seen worst" - at best and as a disastrous laughingstock at worst. And there is no need to sugarcoat it in the name of "NPOV"; doing so actually takes it further from NPOV.4.235.6.142 09:49, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Do we need an entire page of information on the VMA performance?

Honestly, it's getting a little ridiculous how much is being posted there. I've never seen this much posted about a performance at anytime ive looked up songs on Wikipedia. This is an encyclopedia guys, not 'Entertainment Tonight'. 75.117.246.215 21:33, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

It's trash!!! It needs to be deleted. Charmed36 21:39, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Trimmed, you mean. Again, it's unfortunately one of the most notable things about the song. But, of course, it should never be allowed to dominate the page or descend into nothing more than a POV mess - it's just that I want to point out here that it's silly to say "it needs to be deleted" (again, as opposed to editing and trimming), when it's obviously notable in relation to the song (look at enough other detailed song articles, and you'll notice that at least brief information about notable performances is typically included; this performance was definitely a notable one, even if it wasn't in a good way). Note of course that I speak only of mentioning the controversy - two paragraphs, at most - surrounding the performance. Her main article is already crazy-long, so it's best to keep any detailed, um, details, on subpages. If it gets really out of hand, perhaps we can split it into a sub-article like they did for the Mel Gibson DUI incident. Considering the performance is shaping up to have had at least as much significance as the song (the song is doing reasonably well, but the performance was described as a possible career-ender, and goodness knows it can't possibly have helped her child custody case...); sadly, it's probably as much cultural significance, to boot, as the incident detailed in the article I just linked in the last sentence. So, it's not exactly without precedent - and, it may well keep this article a heck of a lot cleaner for those who are more interested in the chart performance than the live performance. ;) I realize we aren't "Entertainment Tonight"... but keep in mind we're already one of the best pop culture resources on the planet. This, sadly, is part of pop culture. I know. I makes me want to bang my head on the wall, too, but them's the brakes. 4.235.6.142 10:03, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Delete all this stuff about the VMA's

Okay, it can be mentioned, but all this is...is becoming an article bashing Britney. This is about the SONG if you want to mention the peroformance so much put it on the 2007 VMA page or on the Britney main page, it's crazy to keep adding everything negitive...more negitivity about the performance than the actual song. MusicLover —Preceding unsigned comment added by MusicLover (talkcontribs) 22:29, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Im not sure we need to delete all of it, but we need to seriously condense it into a paragraph or two and move it to the critical reception section instead. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.117.246.215 (talk) 22:42, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

This article needs to be protected and the VMA information needs a major clean up and deletion Charmed36 23:37, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

The VMA info should stay due to the fact that the performance is easily what most people will remember the song by. Also, info is not biased, just accurately reporting on the reaction, and unfortunately for many of the fans, the reaction has been almost universally negative. This info does belong on the song's page, just like info about the Ashlee Simpson SNL disaster is reported on the Pieces of Me page. RobbieNomi 10:35, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

However, the performance itself and its received feedback has nothing to do with the song as reviewing a performance is not the same thing as reviewing a song. As you can see, the song has received mostly good reviews, when the performance itself has been quite the opposite. --84.230.240.138 16:45, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

The performance has nothing to do with the single. It is a way people can bash on britney, and it is a very problematic post. Mojojojo69 —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 06:46, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Mostly good reviews? There's only one review listed! But anyway, this article is about all aspects of a song; whether it be the writing/recording process, reaction, cultural impact, chart success and performances. The VMA performance is certainly an important aspect of the song, which is why it is included in this article. Just like Ashlee Simpson's "Pieces of Me" and Justin Timberlake's "Rock Your Body", the performances of those songs have gained much notoriety. Until those articles delete info about those song's particular performances, it is only right that that the info about the VMA performance should be included on this page. RobbieNomi 03:52, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

I think that the information about highly publicized VMA perfomance should be kept in this article. It's a must. No matter whether it is positive or negative. Bring that stuff back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zone (talkcontribs) 10:57, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Genre

We know the single is dance-pop. Is it also electronica or R&B? Who thinks? Charmed36 16:34, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

I think it's electropop, but R&B... I'm not so sure of. The song hasn't charted the R&B charts, therefore it isn't a song of that genre. I've removed it from the article, but I kept the electronica genre. However, I might replace it with electropop, so... any objections before I do? Bull Borgnine 22:29, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

The song can be R&B influenced without appearing on the chart. Charmed36 23:58, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Bull Borgnine is right. I have seen a certain web that says it is. I just cant remember what site. --BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 02:14, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
"Gimme More" is not R&B at all. It may have utterly slight urban influences, but not enough to be classified as R&B (this also applies to the "rhythm and blues songs" category). It's way more of dance-pop and electronica. Funk Junkie 20:27, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Gimme More debuts at No.1 in the Philippines! Airplay only Chart Date : September 14, 2007 http://www.rx931.com/chart.html

Compiled weekly airplay spins. Monster Radio RX 93.1 has won five Best FM Station, the most won by any station in KBP history. http://www.rx931.com/about.html

Almost all of Britney's singles went number one in this country except Someday (I Will Understand) (No.4 peak)

uh, uh. cannot add that. Philippines actually dont have any official chart. Check this out. BritandBeyonce (talk) 07:54, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

It doesn't mean that if the radio station had won several times its acceptable in Wikipedia, still, we need official ones. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 00:20, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Ok. By the way, does Philippines able to sell singles? I think Phil, at present, dont sell singles. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 07:50, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

That Philippine Top 20 chart is apparently airplay for the entire Philippines...This country only sell albums, no singles...It should be an airplay chart. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.69.6.183 (talk) 12:07, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Ok, lets put a period on this matter. Philippines currently have airplay and album charts. With regards to the position, you can add that but it could be deleted because its only an airplay. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 02:31, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm not pushing for the Philippines to be included in the chart info in the article, but just to clarify: The Philippines Top 20 uses the albums sales in which the songs are part of, since there are no singles being sold in the country. In cases where the album is unavailable or not yet released, the song's ranking will be entirely based on its airplay. Johnnytalker 08:36, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Ok. Since we have already a source for Philippine charts, i think we had solved already this matter. Cheers. --BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 02:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

The singles going VERY VERY good!! it has charted in the US without any digital support only based on airplay. it is already a top 10 single in several countries and it has even topped the charts in some of them!! im from greece and i just want report that the single is enjoying heavy airplay by all radio stasions. suprisingly it hasnt entered the top 50 yet... regardless, its almost sure that it will top it! go britney!!

Again - play nice, Brit. He or she did bring up some actual facts. Expressing an opinion in only one or two very short sentences while bringing up facts in considerably larger doses is not necessarily something that's frowned upon on a mere Talk page, and you were a newbie once, too, remember. Also, please check your grammar a little extra before posting next time, as it's a little hard to decipher on the first read-through and while I got your meaning, many non-native speakers would not have necessarily been able to figure it out for sure. Just something to watch for, is all. OK? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.235.6.142 (talk) 10:14, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WRONG CHARTS

The song is NOT #2 in Mexico amog other places, that position is barely a chart position within a (1) Radio Station, not even the biggest in Mexico.

Song is not even in the top 100 in Mexico. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.180.230.198 (talk) 03:11, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Also the song was not #1 on the Australian Digital Charts. The source they linked to even still says it is #6 so I reverted it back to that. Also, like it's mentioned the Tokyo Top 100 is only a radio station chart, not the offical charts of Japan, which are the Oricon charts. There's no physical single release scheduled for Japan according to HMV Japan. Therefore, it will not chart as Oricon does not factor in digital sales.Taskinlude 04:18, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

The song is now at #3 on the Australian Digital Charts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.111.79.171 (talk) 09:19, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

In the Peak positions section, it says the song has peaked at #1 in Australia, it hasn't actually debuted on the official chart here yet and won't until Sunday night/Monday morning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.111.77.75 (talk) 12:15, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Japan's Tokio 100 Chart

The Tokio 100 chart is the airplay chart of one radio station. It is not the Oricon chart, which is the official Japanese music chart. So, "Gimme More" has not hit #17 on the Japanese chart. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.135.58.53 (talk) 15:38, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Question(s)...

Since Gimme more is enjoying heavy airplay (it has peeked at #68 based only on airplay) and now it suddently jumped at #1 in the US i-tunes where it will actually stay for the entire week it should break into the US billboard hot 100 top 10... i mean the only thing missing is its physical release... and anyway why has gimme more even charted? i mean it has only reached #25 on the dance airplay chart and it (probably) hasn't enetered the entire airplay chat or has it ? anyway... i was saying.. yes no. 25 on the dance airplay no. 31 on the pop chart and i dont no anything else but the single has managed to peek at a very high (i would say considering the low peeks on the secondary charts) #68!! i mean this is kinda unlogical! or am i wrong?... well i now what im writing here is annoyingly long but somebody please answer my little, innocent questions... PLEASE!! --Mysterious Spy 14:36, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] VIDEO: PROMO OR NOT?

Is this video a "promo" video, or the official video? It seems to be the official, and if so, why does the article say promo? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.164.224.151 (talk) 17:57, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Videos are inherently promotional. It's the official promotional video, get it? lol... PatrickJ83 19:07, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

No, this was just going to be a promotional video, but a full, longer one was made with more scenes and a completely different and more interesting storyline. It was considered too risque for television, so no one aired it and Jive decided not to release the full video. There's an online petition going around for Jive to release the full video. I think the petition is worth a mention. Like for the "My Only Wish (This Year) thing on breatheheavy.com, the campaign to get the song to the top of the iTunes chart was mentioned, and I think that this is just as important. This is the image they are using to promote it.

[edit] sexual?

Why is this article under the category of songs with sexual themes? How is this song sexual? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.8.13 (talk) 07:09, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

The crowd is watching them have sexual intercourse. Charmed36 23:42, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

  • No they arn't. The crowd is watching them dance. The song is about dancing in a club. The crowd is watching them (and taking pictures to boot) and the two dancers are feeling vibes that the crowd is wanting more, hence the line, "Feels like the crowd is saying, 'gimme, gimme more'". Listen to the lyrics and you'll see that the song is about dancing. In the interlude to the song Britney says outright, "I see you, and I just want to dance with you." The song has sexual undertones, but that isn't the theme. The theme is dancing. Tailan All 00:11, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Dancing are you kidding me? THis song is 100% sexual in nature the music video is even in a strip club!Parralax 22:48, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

  • It doesn't matter what the music video contains. Don't outright ignore the lyrics and judge the song on how it generally sounds or by the video. The SONG is about dancing. It's the same deal with I'm A Slave 4 U. Slave 4 U has sexual undertones but the SONG is about dancing. Tailan All 17:05, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Video ignored its still about sex, dancing is just used as a and is some parts there are direct references to sex like when she says (the dance) is a crazy position and that they're dirty dancing.Parralax 01:32, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

  • That's called an UNDERTONE. What part of this is hard to understand? The song is not about sex. It seems more like you want the song to be about sex instead of you actually believing the song is about sex, which it isn't. Or can you really not differentiate between the sexual undertones in the song and what the song is actually about? It is about dancing. Read the lyrics. Tailan All 03:53, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Indeed not about sex. The single nor the entire album doesn't contain any explicit material. --BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 05:03, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jackie Beat parody: "filthy whore"

Drag star Jackie Beat released "her" parody of Gimme More, titled "filthy whore", which has garnered nearly 400,000 views since its upload about 1 week ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hOXoGxFmRI

Should it be mentioned in the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.9.3 (talk) 05:19, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Such things usually aren't considered notable enough for inclusion in articles such as this until mainstream media pays attention to them. So, if Entertainment Weekly or the NY Times brings it up, sure. Until then, though, no. Clear enough? :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.235.6.142 (talk) 10:20, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

It was kind of stupid, low-budget, and anyone who cares about Jackie Beat has already seen it. It wasn't well-made, and it had no impact on the song, video, artist or her album. There's no use mentioning it.

[edit] Music Video

"The video is basically about Spears pole-dancing in a strip club, with a few shots of her, blonde-haired, staring at a man at a bar."

This section needs to be re written, the main theme is britney spears as blonde sitting in the bar, watching herself pole dancing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.226.227.133 (talk) 11:30, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

  • I do not think that airplay charts should be put into the section, they should be removed. For example, the Israelian, the Greenland one, the Iceland one, the Turkey one and some others like Tokio Hot 100 are all radio charts. Why should we put radio charts in the section? I also think that the charts should be classified by name, and not by peak positions. Now I edit the page with the main and the essential charts, write here your thoughts! *Unforgivable* 17:58, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
There is already a guideline for charts tables - as mentioned above - WP:CHARTS. Airplay-only charts and those for minor markets should not be included. - eo 18:01, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

    • This one could be found in the single's sheet. I can't find it in 8Notes.com. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:28, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
  • More polishing especially the critical reception to look not biased.
  • Concised chart performance; removed to much info, group related facts, etc.
  • More info about the video's performaces on charts.
  • If allowed, please upload Lil Kim's remix; the opening line where she interpolated "It's Britney bitch...and Lil' Kim.... Kimme Kimme More...."
they will not allow. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 09:07, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Liam Kinnon Wordpress.com source

Wordpress.com is a free blog hosting service. So first of all, Liam Kinnon is not connected with Automattic, Inc.; that company is just Liam's host. This makes the reference note inaccurate. Second, looking at Liam's blog, he's 20, and does not seem to be a notable expert in songs. So I don't think he is a reliable source. --seav (talk) 06:02, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Key

It is not in Bb major. It is in 3 sharps! It is F# minor. Also, I'm pretty sure that it is everything a quarter-tone up. For example, the first note she sings (F#) is really an F-one-and-a-half-sharp, and it is just unconventional to write it that way in sheet music. Cheesypot (talk) 22:14, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you you voiced that out. Actually, I just depend on the source which says it's B flat major. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 14:47, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

As you can see, I've had a go at copyediting the first two sections of the article. Content-wise, I think this is a very good article, and with some work on the writing it will be even better. I'll work on the rest of the article in the next few days. Thanks. Chwech 21:16, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Good work. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 02:23, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Good article nomination on hold

I've decided to review Gimme More because BritandBeyonce suggested to me on my talk page. (comment) I was able to pick out a few minor things with the article (I may change a few things myself):

  • In the infobox, the genres are not seperated by slashes, rather by commas as per WP:ALBUMS, change it to Dance, urban pop with the links I've provided; just linking both to Pop music will be quite confusing to readers.
    • Y Done.
  • In the lead: "It performed well reaching top five and top ten on most charts it appeared on." Now, there is no need to mention "top five", generalize it as "top ten".
    • YI've been thinking of that since; it's kinda wrong. It was changed already.
  • I'm just suggesting, but maybe the title should be "Background"? Nothing really major, can be overlooked.
    • Y Changed to Background.
  • "Gimme More" is also influenced by electro elements[2] and funky rhythm.[10] - Funky should be linked, otherwise it's just confusing.
    • Y Piped link already.
  • It's retro sounding disco-ish beat highlights "heavy-breathing" and "moaning vocals". - disco-ish -> disco-oriented
    • Y Fixed.
  • "Gimme More" highlights a spoken intro and outro with Spears in the beginning and Danja at the end.
  • ""Gimme More" was first physically released as a maxi single in Australia on October 6, 2007 including two tracks: main and instrumental version[18]—it is her first singles release way back to "Someday (I Will Understand)" in 2005, from the album Britney & Kevin: Chaotic... The DVD & More . - colon looks awkward, needs rewording; and remove the dash and make it a new sentence.
    • Y Fixed.
  • In addition, a limited five-track 12" vinyl single entitled Gimme More Remixes, including reworkings by Paul Van Dyk, Junior Vasquez and Johnny Vicious, Paul Oakenfold and Kaskade plus the Eli Escobar and "Doug Grayson Remix" featuring Amanda Blank,[20] - remove plus and reword, coz "plus" seems unencyclopedic.
    • Y Changed to and.
  • The single was certified gold for selling 500,000 copies early after its release by the Recording Industry Association of America.[44] - also "gold" should be linked to Music recording sales certification
    • Y Linked.
  • I think the record is a f*cking great record. I think it's so on the mark with what's going on in the clubs today. But the tempo wasn't right for Europe and the main dance floors in America, so I got rid of the crap on it which I didn't think worked, speeded it up and gave it more structure and arrangement and more of a heavier club feel. They liked it. Now I have to do a radio edit, and hopefully that'll do well for her. - Wikipedia is not censored so remove the asterisk.
    • Y You fixed it.

Well that's pretty much it, nothing else is too serious. I will pass the article as a GA after you've addressed my issues. Thanks! (SUDUSER)85 14:27, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the immediate review. I've addressed the issues already with the help of yours and Chwech. If something still does not fit, feel free to drop a message. Thank you again. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 06:34, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Seeing as all the concerns have been addressed, this passes as a GA. But for FA you'll to oversee a thourough copy-editing; requests can be made at the League of Copy-Editors. I except to see more articles of this stature from you, just hit me up for a GA review after nominating it. Thanks! (SUDUSER)85 14:50, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
User:Chwech still up for that. Maybe the copyediting will be finished soon; so re-PR, i think, is fine. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 00:36, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Formats

Has there been a new rule for formats available for singles? The one in the page as of now lists three versions, and apart from the itunes one it is not even stated if it's a cd or vinyl. Having them, I know they are cds, however there are at least 4 vinyl versions of the single, is it ok to list them ?? Dollvalley (talk) 00:17, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

I think it would be better to limit track listing; include only those major releases as listing them all would only crowd the whole article with little or no substantial information added to it. --Efe (talk) 01:32, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Chart Info

Half of it has been removed? Why? Dmkimberley (talk) 15:00, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

According to the editors edit summary, the information was wrong which it was as Gimme More wasn't number one in most of the countries listed on the chart table. I have fixed most of the chart positions now to what the references say and restored the missing half and corrected that too so no worries :) AngelOfSadness talk 16:26, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
