Talk:Gillingham, Medway

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Set up a redirect and changed the page and talk to Gillingham, Kent- which is the name it has always used to disambiguate from Gillingham, Dorset. It is the name of the station. Medway, needs an explanation- though it is the unitary area it is never used on its own. The Medway Towns, is used are so it Rochester-upon-Medway to describe the former city council. Noone thinks or says Rainham Medway, Strood Medway.. etc. The name of the ceremonial county, Kent, is always used. There is deep local feeling.

Besides, ask the man in the street in Dorset, where the other Gillingham was and he alway reply Kent.ClemRutter 21:43, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
