Gilvam Borges

Gilvam Pinheiro Borges (Brasilia, August 1, 1958) is a Brazilian sociologist and politician. His father early participated in the construction of city of Brasilia, then, they return to the state of Amapá.

In 1990, he becomes Federal Deputy elected by PRN. Two years later was transferred to the PMDB, where competed to the election to the Senate.

In 1994 he was elected Senator for Amapá. In 1998, applied to the Governor of Amapá, leaving at 3rd place in the obtainment of the votes of that poll.

After the trial of Senator João Capiberibe's scandal of purchase of votes in the election of 2002, Gilvam Borges took the vacancy in the Senate again for having been the first-alternate of the plate of the merge.
