Gilmerton, Edinburgh

Gilmerton is a suburb of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is south-west of Danderhall. Its name derives from a combination of Gaelic ; Gille-Moire - from which we have the first, "Gilmer", element - and English "ton"[.Gilmerton is also home to Gilmerton Boxing Club which has produced professional boxers such as Gary Young. http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/institutes/sassi/spns/watsloth.htm].
