Gillespie Cave is located east of Nashville in Antioch, TN. It is a small cave that has two entrances, both of which are small. The smallest entrance leads into a passageway that one must crawl through and has an average height of 2ft and an average width of 5ft. The floor is silty moist mud. A few side passages on the left and right break off but end shortly after. A 30ft tall gallery area with various flow stones and dead-end passageways is on the left once one has crawled the 400ft main passageway. the 30ft gallery breaks off into two directions. When entering from the main passageway the second entrance is to the right and a wide passageway goes off the right, but ends in a dead end. The second entrance goes up to the surface and opens up in the middle of some woods. This cave, though small, is great fun for those who are not afraid to crawl in tight spaces.

Update: 1-August-2007

Unfortunately, Gillespie cave is no longer accessible. Following the construction of a nearby housing development, both entrances were covered with construction debris and dirt.
