Gillian "Gill" Deacon (born April 26, 1966 in Montreal, Quebec) is an actress who formerly hosted a daytime television show called The Gill Deacon Show, which launched in 2006, on CBC Television in Canada, and was cancelled nine months later.
Her past host credits include a stint with Jay Ingram from 1996 to 2002 on Discovery Channel Canada's @discovery.ca, as well as CBC Television's Code Green[1].
Gill has also worked as a television host for CBC Montreal and CTV. In Montreal, she spent four years hosting and writing for Citybeat, a national half-hour program showcasing Quebec arts and culture. During that time she was also a weekly arts correspondent for CBC News: Morning on Newsworld.
Gill is well known for her interest in environmental issues and is the author and editor of Green Tips: How to Save Money and the Planet, a consumer guide about environmentally conscious lifestyle choices. She is also environmental editor of Green Living magazine, and this October she started a monthly column in Chatelaine answering readers’ questions about environmental living. Gill’s articles have also been published in the Montreal Gazette and Shift magazine.
Before establishing her career in journalism, Gill taught elementary school children with learning disabilities, and she pioneered a new route in New Zealand where she guided student and adult bike tours.
Gill's interests include music, photography and painting. She serves on the board of directors for the World Wildlife Fund, and also sits on the advisory panel for All-Canadian Management’s Green Resource Fund. She lives in downtown Toronto with her husband, Grant Gordon, and three young sons.
The Gill Deacon Show was cancelled on May 8, 2007 after nine months on air which included two hiatuses to re-tool the program.
