Giles Gherson is Deputy Minister and Associate Secretary of the Cabinet, Communications, in Cabinet Office for the Ontario government. Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty announced [1] Mr. Gherson's appointment, effective April 2, 2007, on March 8, 2007. Mr. Gherson was formerly editor-in-chief [2] of the Toronto Star, one of Canada's major newspapers. Previously, he was business editor of The Globe and Mail and editor-in-chief of The Edmonton Journal.
