The Reverend Dr Giles Fraser is the vicar of St Mary's Church, Putney. He lectured in philosophy and was chaplain of Wadham College, Oxford, and is a leading authority on Nietzsche. He is a regular contributor to The Guardian and the Church Times and is a regular contributor on Thought for the Day. He is in the liberal tradition of the Church of England.

His Putney church was the base for the Civil War Putney Debates, and Fraser thus led a successful campaign in The Guardian in 2006 to have the Debates given greater recognition. In 2007, Fraser collaborated with Terry Eagleton to prepare an edition of the Gospels with a neo-Marxist introduction, published by Verso Books.
