Gilbert Ivor Reece, Welsh international footballer: born Cardiff 2 July 1942, died Cardiff 20 December 2003.

Reece played for Newport County from 1963 to 65, Sheffield United from 1965 to 1972, Cardiff City from 1972 to 1976 and for Swansea City in 1976; he was capped 29 times by Wales.

He was a gifted ball-playing left winger, who made over 200 appearances for Sheffield United and scored 58 goals. He was a big favourite with the Bramall Lane crowd, who encouraged him with the unimaginative but effective chant - 'Reece, Reece, Reece'. He and Dave Powell were transferred to Cardiff in 1972 in exchange for the striker Alan Warboys.

After 1976 Reece played for non-League Barry Town. On retiring from his playing career he ran a family heating business before becoming a hotelier in Cardiff.

He was also the brother of welsh boxer Leonard Reece.
