[edit] "A series..." ???
This was a series where? Animal Planet? The article doesn't say. - Sean Martin 23:59, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] What is this page even about
The page is called giant monsters yet the body of the article doesn't discuss anything named "Giant Monsters" the trivia section refers to "Giant Monsters" but only in ways saying how whatever this is is different from Giant Monsters. If this article is something that isn't Giant monsters it needs to be moved, if it is about Giant Monsters the trivia section needs to be removed and the article completely rewritten. I may do some cursory google searches to figure this out but someone who knows what the article is actually about would probably be helpful. Stardust8212 02:42, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Update, I think a rewrite is in order. "Dinosaurs: Giants of Time" returned zero google hits, if its a documentary series it apparently received zero press coverage and isn't notable. I did find Jeff Corwin's Giant Monsters though: [1] [2] [3] This article, being located as it is, should probably discuss the latter, not the former. Stardust8212 02:52, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] PAST Tense, please
This article is very badly written ("Allosaurus has never been this face before and it is only supposed that Allosaurus runs at 18 miles per hour though it never runs this fast." WTF?). It's not clear what series or show the article is even about. And I'd tend to agree with any who say it should just disappear.
But if it's going to be here can we at least get teh verb tense right? Most of the sentences placed in the article are written in the present tense.
- "Spinosaurus is more than fifty-four feet long..."
- "...like Giganotosaurus, it hunts in packs."
- "Compsognathus may be small but can be a kind of dinosaur which..."
As far as I know, none of these creatures "is" anymore.

[edit] Propose deletion?
Y'know, thinking about it more perhaps this article should be deleted. If it is about some show or series that appeared on TV then it should plainly say to in the first sentence. And the body of the article should be about the show. A brief description of the program and/or what was notable about it.
As it is, this is a list of dinosaurs and a few of their most notable traits. All of that info is available on the entries for the individual dinosaurs.
Thumbs up to whoever has tried to expand on this article. I actually applaud their efforts to add to Wikipedia. Just want to make sure that their time is better spend in making a relevant, meaningful, worthy entry. - Sean Martin 16:53, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- While I agree the article in it's current state is certainly PROD worthy I think it might be better to simply stub-ify the article and change the focus to the actual program (see #What is this page even about) there seems to be a couple sources and a stub quality article that is actually on topic might be possible. I'd be willing to try it myself if others think it might be worthwhile, it would pretty much be starting from scratch. Stardust8212 20:16, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hoax?
I can find no evidence that this series even exists. J. Spencer 14:20, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- No, wait, the actual program exists; see here and here. However, I can see no evidence that the series the article describes is the Animal Planet Giant Monsters, as that had giant squids and a host of nondinosaurian things, while this is all about dinosaurs and in places claims to be different from Giant Monsters. Searching for the episode titles produces only hits here and to mirrors. J. Spencer 14:26, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- This edit, aside from lacking the when and where of the program, is what it was actually about. The anonIP who added it then decided it was better off about dinosaurs. There is no Dinosaurs: Giants of Time except in 70.123.104.101's imagination. J. Spencer 14:34, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rewritten
I don't know how television special articles are written, but this is what the show was really about. As such, I don't know if it is notable or not. J. Spencer 14:43, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- There's a couple secondary sources on it listed above (#What is this page even about), I may have a look over those again and see if they establish notability, not sure I really feel strongly enough to contest the prod though. Stardust8212 15:24, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Deletion
Stardust, your rewrite put the page right as far as the facts are concerned, but I'm just not convinced that we need to memorialize this series in Wikipedia. If anyone can point to a reason why this series is "Wikipedia Notable", I'll rescind my deletion request. Rwzehner 15:58, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually User:J. Spencer did the rewrite (see above), not me. I also am unsure of it's notability. Stardust8212 17:45, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know about its notability, either (I mostly edit dinosaur and pterosaur articles, and worked on this one because an anonIP had turned it into a fantasy of a dinosaur series), so taking it to a wider forum for discussion is probably the best way to go. J. Spencer 21:53, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
what a minute this was just a thought, so u sent me on a wild goose chase only to find out the documentery is not real, why did u make up such a thing —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aslan10000 (talk • contribs) 01:17, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- The documentary is real, someone else had made up an article about an entire series which probably didn't exist. Nobody here sent you on a wild goose chase. Stardust8212 01:30, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- I know that but what about the brachiosaurus, and the edmontosaurus and what not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aslan10000 (talk • contribs) 01:52, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- That was just some anonIP's idea of what there should be, I guess. J. Spencer 02:30, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- I know that but what about the brachiosaurus, and the edmontosaurus and what not? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aslan10000 (talk • contribs) 01:52, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Is a certain famous TV host a GIANT Monster?
Someone unfamiliar with the Animal Planet series might briefly wonder this issue when they see they have been redirected to the television host's page. Replaced page (MANUALLY, again) per WP:D to avoid issues with disambiguation. Had this page been titled Giant Monsters (television show) I wouldve left it alone. Came here after viewing list of giant monster films. Userafw (talk) 02:36, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- See the AfD. It was redirected because it was about the show. Replacing it with a list of what you perceive to be giant monsters is NOT following WP:D in any way shape or form. Collectonian (talk) 02:39, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
