Giant Steps: The Autobiography of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Bantam Books, 1983) is the best-selling story of one of the most dominant big men in the NBA. Written with former Crawdaddy magazine editor Peter Knobler, it covers most of the high and low points of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's long, illustrious career. The title Giant Steps pays tribute to the eponymous 1960 album by jazz legend John Coltrane.
