Giant Drop (Dreamworld)

The Giant Drop is a free fall ride located at Dreamworld in Australia. The ride stands a staggering 119 metres high, making it the second tallest ride (the first being Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure) in the world. The Giant Drop opened to Dreamworld in 1998, sharing the Dreamworld Tower structure with the Tower of Terror, which opened the previous year. The eastern side originally had a "pre-drop", where riders would be dropped a few metres before slowing down by use of the ride's fail-safe magnetic brakes only to be dropped the full distance moments later. This ride programme was discontinued by way of adjusting the braking fins on the tower to make them no longer functioning.
