Ghurian District

The Ghurian District (Ghoryan District) is an administrative district situated in the western part of Herat Province, Afghanistan. It borders on Iran to the west and northwest. To the north it borders on Kohsan District, to the east on Zendeh Jan District and to the south on Adraskan District. The Hari River flows through the northeastern end of the district. The area along the Iranian border is marshy. The population is 73,700 (est. 2005) and the district center is the city of Ghurian.
