One of the prominent and young Vocalist of India, Ghulam Abbas Khan belongs to the RAMPUR-SAHASWAN Gharana which owes its allegiance to MIYAN TANSEN's tradition. He was initiated into music at a tender age by his grand father, late Ustad Ghulam Jafar Khan, a well known Sarangi player of India. Later he continued his training under the worthy guidance of his father Padmashri Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan, a classical vocalist of International repute Ghulam Abbas happens to be the grandson of the great classical vocalist of India late Ustad Mushtaq Husain Khan who was the first recipient of Padmabhushan Award.
Gifted with a sonorous and mellifluous voice, Ghulam Abbas sings both classical and Ghazal with equal ease. In classical he specializes in Khayal style which highlights the systematic badhat of Raga, intricate and graceful sapat tanas of full three octaves. In Ghazal singing he has developed his own style which includes original compositions. He emphasizes on the aesthetic sense of poetry and composition. Apart from Khayal and Ghazal he also sings Thumri, Dadra, Sufi, Folk, Bhajans and Geets with equal ease.
He is not only popular at music festivals and concerts in India but also performed abroad in countries like UK, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong,China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mauritius,Thailand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E. and Oman etc.
He has released few albums of Ghazals, Geet and Sufi. He also sang for films and TV Serials. Abbas is not only a talented vocalist but also a successful music director. He has composed music for many established singers of the country and provided music for films and TV Serials. He has produced many Shagirds (students) who are quite successful in Indian Music industry.Among his Students Najmi Khan(Brother)Ghulam Rasool Khan and Shariq Khan are getting very popular.
