Ghost of the Robot was a rock band, based in Southern California. It gained a following mainly due to its lead singer, actor James Marsters.
The band was formed in April 2002. Its members were Charlie De Mars (guitar and vocals), Aaron Anderson (drums and vocals), James Marsters (lead vocals), Steve Sellers (keyboards and vocals), and Kevin McPherson (bass). Influences include Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, and Ben Folds, among others. The band recorded one album, Mad Brilliant, a showcase of Charlie's song writing skills, with James writing "Dangerous", "Angel"' and Sellers writing "Valerie". The album was a sell-out success, as were both European tours in 2003 and 2004.
On their 2004 European tour, the band chose to release an EP entitled It's Nothing, giving a taster from their long awaited second album. The second album was not released as James Marsters left to pursue other creative activities, leaving the band to its original form Power Animal who shortly released their album Vs. the world thereafter.
Marsters is now a semi-successful solo performer with a sold-out tour in the UK in April 2005. The other band members are continuing in several different bands including EyeLAshout, Gods of the Radio and Power Animal.
