Ghost Beach is the 22nd novel in the Goosebumps book series by R. L. Stine. It was also adapted as an episode of the Goosebumps television series.

[edit] Synopsis

Twelve-year-old Jerry and his sister Terri go to visit their cousins, who live near a cemetery - as well as a beach that has a scary cave which is the subject of local legends. Jerry and Terri are told by local kids that the cave is haunted, but of course they decide they need to check it out for themselves and journey off to explore it. A flickering light entices the kids in and soon they wish they would have heeded the warnings. Late one night, Jerry sneaks out to find out where the flickering light is coming from. His sister also sneaks out. The flickering light turns out to be a mysterious man's candle. Jerry and Terri think that the man is a ghost, but it turns out to be a scientist who studies the supernatural. (The cave is a sanctuary that the man is trying to trap some of the many ghosts on the beach with.) The man tells Jerry and Terri he is not a ghost and the two find out that the local kids they met are ghosts of children who died long ago during a cold winter on a ship. In the end, their cousins also turn out to be ghosts when a dog won't stop barking around them (since dogs can sense the paranormal).

[edit] Trivia

In the T.V. episode version of this book, instead of having Jerry and Terri visit cousins, they replaced the cousins with grandparents.
