Ghosh (Bangla ঘোষ) is a surname used by Kshatriyas people who are Kayastha and Kshatriya Hindu Bengalis. Although mainly found in the state of West Bengal in India, some Ghosh families were originally found in areas in East Bengal (now in modern day Bangladesh). Ghoshes are also found across India and, as with the broader India diaspora, across the world; particularly in the US and in the UK.
The name Ghosh is also found in Palestine and Lebanon, as in the town of Abu Ghosh. Here it is an Arab name, in which the "gh" represents the Arabic letter ghain.
