Ghida Fakhry

Ghida Fakhry is the Washington, D.C. co-anchor for Al Jazeera English along with Shihab Rattansi.

In April 2006 Fakhry, who was born in Beirut in 1970, became co-anchor for the Washington, D.C. broadcast of Al Jazeera International's English language television news program (Al-Jazeera English TV news broadcasts daily from four separate news bureaus: Doha, Washington, D.C., London, and Kuala Lumpur). Fakhry was New York Bureau Chief of the London-bases Arabic language daily Asharq Al Awsat. From 2002-2004, she was the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation-Al Hayat's lead evening news anchor from London, and was the New York Bureau Chief from 2000 to late 2001 for Al Jazeera. Previous to that, she was a New York Correspondent of Abu Dhabi Television.

Fakhry holds an MA in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS, University of London) and M.A. in International Relations from Boston University. She is well-versed in English, Arabic, French, and Spanish.[citation needed]
