Ghelari

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ghelari is a village in Hunedoara County, Transylvania, Romania.

In the village there is a beautiful church which was built with great sacrifice. It was started before the Second World War and finished in 1973 under the Communist regime.

The church has been considerably affected by pollution from coal mining and has a large crack between the naos and the pronaos. In 2005-2006 the church was included in a programme of consolidation because of coal mine closures and the Romanian Government has invested more that 22 miliarde of ROL to make possible structure consolidation and a major refit inside and outside. More information about church can be found at its official site Ghelari church
