Editing Guidelines |
Please remember these guidelines when editing a film article:
- If a non-film article already exists with the name of the film that you are trying to create an article for, disambiguate and use (film) in the title: Film Title (film)
- When writing an article about a particular film, the general format should be a concise lead section, followed by a plot summary of no more than 900 words, production details, a cast list, a reception section, and references.
- Create an Infobox that tells all pertinent information about the film.

Stub to Start-Class Upgrading Instructions for Films
- Note that instructions for articles on other types of film topics within the scope of WikiProject Films are currently under development.
To contribute in upgrading this stub article to Start class, the following requirements must be met:
- Significant intro (list the title, alternate titles, year released, director, actors starring in the film, summary of headings, etc.)
- Film infobox ({{infobox film}})
- Picture: Consult WikiProject Free Images for freely released images from a film shoot, opening, or other relevant free image. Non-free and unlicensed images are to be avoided if at all possible, but if used should include a detailed fair use rationale. (An image is not required for start class if unavailable.)
- Plot summary
- Include cast and crew information.
- At least two other developed sections of information (production, reception (including box office figures), awards and honors, themes, differences from novel or TV show, soundtrack, sequels, DVD release, etc.)
- Categories (by year, country, language, and genre(s))

Once this article has fulfilled these requirements, the film can be reassessed to Start class and this template will be removed automatically.

This article needs an image (preferably free) related to the subject, such as a picture of the set or a film poster. A possibility for American films from before 1964 would be a screenshot from the trailer, as these are now in the public domain. Please make sure fair use is properly observed, or the image will be removed. See WP:Films MOS for image guidelines and assistance in uploading. |
|
A plot summary needs to be added to this film article, or the current one needs to be expanded. |
|
Please add more information about the cast and the crew, discussing the "behind the scenes" aspects of the production process, and giving insights into the casting and staffing where possible. See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Style guidelines for more advice. |
Article assumes the LDS church has black and white, dogmatic thinking and focuses on missionaries who question their religious upbringing and belief system.Joshuajohanson 06:30, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Lets take this step by step.
1. "Focuses on missionaries who question their religious upbringing and belief system". Well, the film had a lot to do with people who fit the given description so I think it's perfectly fair to mention it. It's not POV, it's simply a description. And of course you're welcome to add a sentence about those who didn't question their beliefs. But the other side should not be censored just because they had doubts.
2. "LDS church has black and white"
"Black and white" rather points at those specific people, not the church as a whole. It points at their total belief and trust in the LDS church and thus - metaphorically - black and white worldview. It does not say that about the church, that's a whole different thing.
3. "dogmatic thinking"
This is just nonsense. There isn't a christian or christian-related church on this earth which doesn't have dogmatics, thus isn't dogmatic. Teachings of a church are it's dogmatics.
Like, looking at the wikipedia article about LDS church, it says: "The church teaches that God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are "one God" in the sense that they are one "in purpose", but does not accept the Nicene Creed's definition of Trinity, that the three are "consubstantial"."
Exactly that is a description of a part of the LDS church dogmatics.
So, conclusion: The article is not POV, but rather just not ready. Right now it represents only part of the necessary information about the film, but what it does have is accurate. It does, however, need a person willing to write it more thoroughly so all sides would be represented and proper paragraphs presented.
I'll remove the POV sign for now, but of course you're welcome answer to my arguments. Androg 10:02, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
