Do you have a better version of the Copacabana picture than the 30 KB one? The resolution is rather on the small side, but the JPEG artifacts make the image pretty much unusable. Too bad, great picture otherwise. Rl 20:29, 7 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I refer you to the Image use policy#Size which recommends using high-resolution images (up to 2 MB). HTH. Rl 10:36, 8 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] IFD

I think you should be using the {{IFD}} tag to get the images deleted, not {{delete}} . --Tagishsimon (talk)

[edit] Image:Illiniza mini.jpg

Hi. You recently asked for speedy deletion of Image:Illiniza mini.jpg by adding {{delete}} to the page. However, this image does not qualify for speedy deletion because (1) you did not provide a reason and (2) it is currently linked to an article. If you wish to delete this image that you uploaded, please list it on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. If you have uploaded a larger size version of this image, then it would qualify for speedy delete once the article link has been changed. Thanks. RedWolf 04:47, Jan 15, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion requests

Hi. You have asked for speedy deletion of a number of images you uploaded. Some have reasons while others do not. All request for speedy deletions should provide a reason. Instead of using {{delete}} you should use {{db|reason}}, replacing reason with your case.

Images can generally only be speedy deleted if they are exact duplicates, thumbnails or missing images. All other cases must be listed on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion and {{ifd}} placed on the image description page. This process must also be followed for those images which have been copied to Commons.

I have listed below the images you had marked to be speedily deleted but do not meet the criteria:

Thanks. RedWolf 21:41, Jan 15, 2005 (UTC)

Why are you trying to get these images deleted? I can't see them on the deletion votes page, and you appear to have not provided justification for them being deleted. To my eye there are some fine photos in there, and you have already released them into the public domain, so you can't object to them being used on copyright grounds. I was not trying to get the images deleted myself, just that process needs to be followed for images moved to Commons. I would definitely agree, these are some outstanding photos which are a welcome addition. I wish it didn't cost me $2,000 USD just to get to the Himalaya so I could experience more of the region. I'm not quite sure whether I myself should answer here on my own page ... hope it's correct. I uploaded the pictures to both, Wiki Commons and here, since I didn't understand the system in first place. On Commons dwell the higher resolution images, which are better, so I want to get rid of the other useless ones here. I had to do the same already in the german section. It's a beginners mistake. --Gerd Breitenbach 23:18, 18 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Right. Got you. I see you've now done exactly the correct thing for the images to be dealt with.
As for answering on your own talk page vs my talk page with this question, it depends on personal preference. Some people prefer to let the person that they are answering know that an answer is there by putting it on the person to be answered's talk page and triggering the system's new message box at the top of the screen. Some people prefer to leave all of a conversation on one talk page to make it easier to follow. To me it doesn't really matter either way.
Those are some very nice photos of some pretty out of the way places, and I'm glad to see they won't be disappearing from the Wikipedia, just shifting to the Commons server. David Newton 07:54, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Paragliding

Would you mind helping out fixing the paragliding article. From one of the pictures you posted, you seem to know something about it. Mgm|(talk) 10:47, Jan 18, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Physics

Hi,

Based on your edit history, you might be interested in participating in the conversations on the talk pages of Wikipedia:WikiProject Physics. This project is devoted to the creation and maintenance of physics pages on WP, and a number of curious issues arise from time to time. Oh, by the way, thanks for your articles on squeezed coherent states! linas 14:56, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks a lot, that physics link is very useful, obviously I'm not often enough here anymore, but that'll change again I suppose ....--Gerd Breitenbach 14:26, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
