[edit] Open source? Java? PHP?

It would be great to open source this code so that we could port it to something cross-platform like Java or PHP. best, Joseph Lorenzo Hall 00:55, 24 September 2005 (UTC)

It is already open source, although I'm still sort of considering the license to use when GFDL doesn't apply due to it not being a software license in the first place.
If you want to create any kind of derivative work, go ahead. Java and PHP ports are fine with me, although a more permanent solution that would also help make other VB programs cross-platform would be to find (or, if necessary, write) an open VB compiler (or translator to C++) and runtime. Also consider that PHP runs in a kind of different environment than Java and VB programs.
For a translator tools like Bison and Flex might come in handy. We would also need to write a WebBrowser control, perhaps using Gecko. Lot's of work, but not all of it is strictly speeking necessary for the job at hand.

[edit] Watchlist syndication feed discussion

I reworked meta:syndication_feeds and linked here under watchlist feeds. Still trying to rally support toward watchlist rss feeds. here 18:52, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Yep… Perhaps ATOM feeds would also be cool… Shinobu 10:53, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
Definitely.. I'm a tragic victim of improperly referring to syndication feeds in generaly by rss ;). the horror, the terror here 19:56, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] VB40032.DLL download?

Maybe a link to a safe donwload site would be useful. I got mine from here (first Google hit). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 21:56, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

I'll add a link. Shinobu 09:34, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] English translation

English version would be very helpful, and not that hard to create, I think (the soft is tiny). It sounds quite useful, but if it remains in whatever language it is now, it will be discarded by most users, I am afraid. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 22:02, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

You're right, of course. The thing is, thinking "it's not much work" and actually getting around to do it are two different things. Shinobu 09:37, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
So very true. But considering the tool usefulness, can't we get somebody to do it? Perhaps listing on Wikipedia:Translation into English may be appopriate. Btw, what language is it currently in? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 19:50, 31 October 2005 (UTC)
Dutch. Anyway, I think I'll pull the string constants to the start of the form's module code (right after Option Explicit) in the next version. I can translate them into a few languages, although I wonder if here would want to host all the different versions in compiled form. Perhaps it would be better to load from a config file and use the constants as a backup. For my own reference I'll post some of the strings here, with translations. Most of these are error messages and should not normally appear. Feel free to correct any of this. Shinobu 11:16, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Dutch

Reference texts. These can be assumed to correctly identify what they're supposed to identify.

In Dutch it's common to refer to actions the computer must take after user input using the infinite form of the verb; however this might not be true in all languages; e.g. English uses the imperative (I think).
