Born April 22, 1950 in Kiev, Russia, Alex and his family immigrated to Poland in 1957, and then to the United States in 1960. Alex lived with his mother, father and sister Lana, in Brooklyn NY, until moving to Manhattan to attend Hunter College (CUNY) in 1969. After graduating, Alex worked as a fashion photographer, and then as computer programmer software engineer, and management consultant. Prior to moving to the west coast, he held senior management and Board of Directors positions, at varied organizations, including Sony Corporation, Citibank, Bankers Trust, Yourdon Inc, KnowledgeWare, and Oracle. Alex moved to San Francisco in 1992, and in 1996 married Eve Bernstein. Eve and Alex have 3 children Rachel, Julie and Jason. Alex serves on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross, as well as several for profit organizations.
