Giangiacomo Gerla is full professor of Computer Science at the University of Salerno (Italy). It is interested in: - fuzzy logic - point-free geometry. In fuzzy logic its researches were devoted to define a suitable notion of decidable fuzzy subset and recursively enumerable fuzzy subset. Indeed, these notions are basic ones in any approach to a logic.

Point-free geometry is based on the idea that in geometry we have not to assume as a primitive the notion of point. So we start from the notion of region and we define the points as the result of a suitable abstraction processes. These researches are related with the work of the philosopher and mathematician A. N. Whitehead. Further information can be found in http://www.dmi.unisa.it/people/gerla/www/
