Since this museum is mentioned (with double brackets) in a number of Wik/en articles, I thought we should start an article on it. I have taken the first sentence of the German Wik article and added the founding date. I hope this motivates some-body to expand this stub.

[edit] A Visitor's Experience

I visited the museum today (January 17, 2007) as I am an Army civilian stationed nearby and interested in German culture. I have lived in Germany for nearly 10 years. While the collections were for the most part interesting, the way we were treated by the staff frankly was not. We were gruffly dealt with by a gentleman who complained that our baby daughter who is all of thirteen-months was too loud. His demeanor, and much of the staff towards us and other guests (German and American alike) was very short to say the least. Strangely we were the only individuals on that level at the time he approached us about our baby duaghter, which made his apparent grievance rather unreasonable. Thirty minutes into our trip we were dealt with very meanly by a woman who told my wife to remove her purse. These incidents in addition to the constant glares of the rest of the staff made the trip extremely uncomfortable. I can only say that we are a small family and don’t fit the profile of criminals by any conventional standard. However that is exactly how the staff made us feel. There were literally only a handful of guests today, but one would think that the public should feel welcome. I cannot in good conscience encourage others to visit this museum after such an experience. It was a pity that this treatment dampened our trip to say the least. Take that for what it's worth, just one family's experience. I don't have an account at wikipedia but I will sign my name as best I can (Sean Patrick, US Army Europe, 01/17/07 10:52 CET).
