[edit] Violation of POVFORK

Jheald -- this page is a violation of Wikipedia policy. See WP:FORK and, for copying materials from one article to another, please read WP:MERGE thoroughly. I understand that you have good intentions and feel strongly about progressive Judaism, etc., but please proceed thru Discussion, not abrupt and large moves like this. It's long past time Reform Judaism moved towards summary style. This is something actually recommended at WP:POVFORK for articles getting too long and too unwieldy. The first step is to copy the main material to be summarised into appropriate detail articles. This is one of those articles. Jheald 19:13, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
HG, I'm really confused: looks like you agreed to this split ["Closer? That would be nice. I'm fine w/3 proposed titles above, though better to avoid parentheses"] (one of the titles was this article) Egfrank 19:32, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
When articles grow, and when they will be added to by active editors, topics within them may be spun off, using good sense. This happens all the time on Wikipedia. These articles are a good start and hopefully the editors who are focused on these topics now will enhance them with more and informative information. IZAK 02:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reasons for this article

These are the reasons for this article: The following is copied from here

  • The Pre-1883 German Reform movement is not the sole property of the US or UK Reform, nor the Israeli Progressive movement. It isn't even the sole property of Progressive Judaism in toto. Conservative and Masorti movements also can lay claim to that heritage, especially the portions that lead to the creation of the historical-critical school. Furthermore, it also represents a chapter in the history of German philosophy. By not having it in its own article we run the risk of its content being duplicated in several different places.
  • Placing the pre-1883 German Reform movement into a Reform Judaism article is cramping it. There is a *lot* of missing material about disputes, convocations, steps forward and back. Hirsch is just one of many dissenting voices that need to be included in the story.

[edit] Edit history

Hi. I'm having trouble figuring out where to find the edit histories for this page. I'm interested both in the original creation edits and in the prior history for the text (from Reform Judaism). Can you all help me out? Thanks. HG | Talk 16:34, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

It's in the history of Progressive Judaism (Germany), where it got moved by User:IZAK. It stayed there rather than here, because this article then got recreated by a copy/paste rather than a move. Jheald 18:54, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
