Gerry Britton

Gerard "Gerry" Joseph Britton' (born October 20, 1970 in Glasgow) is currently Assistant Manager to Ian McCall at Partick Thistle He now studies law at the University of Strathclyde Law School. He was previously the manager of Stranraer Football Club. Prior to that Britton was joint manager at Partick Thistle with Derek Whyte during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. In both seasons Thistle were relegated, the first club to be relegated in successive seasons from the top tier of Scottish football to the third without any league reconstruction. Stranraer were relegated to the Scottish Third Division (fourth tier) during his first season in charge (2006/07).

His playing career encompassed many clubs, his gangly frame making him an effective frontman for Celtic, Reading, Partick Thistle, Dundee, Dunfermline Athletic, Raith Rovers, Livingston, Motherwell and Brechin City.

Despite his unsuccessful spell as manager at Partick Thistle, he is still generally considered a legend at the club. The fans affection for him is evidenced by their crowning him "The King of Spain"[1]
