Gerlof Fokko Mees

Dr Gerlof Fokko Mees (born 16 June 1926) is a Dutch ichthyologist, ornithologist and museum curator who was born in the Netherlands, grew up in the Dutch East Indies, and spent much of his life working in Australasia. One of his principal interests has been the avian family Zosteropidae, comprising the White-eyes.
Mees was Curator of Vertebrates at the Western Australian Museum during 1958-1963. He was also subsequently Curator of Birds at the Leiden Museum in the Netherlands until his retirement, for which he returned to Western Australia in 1991.
