Gerard Salonga is the younger brother of Lea Salonga and has been involved in music since he started playing piano at the age of 5. He performed a duet called Happiness with his sister on her first album Small Voice. Gerard has worked with artists such as Lea Salonga and Martin Nievera. He has also arranged and conducted the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and Manila Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2005, Gerard won the Aliw Award for Best Musical Director for the third time. Gerard is now the musical director for Powerhouse Creative Content Company (PC3), a music and audio recording, film scoring, and post-production facility in Manila, Philippines. In 2006, he recorded the score for Ang Pamana with the Global Studio Orchestra in Manila, Philippines.
Gerard received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ateneo de Manila University in 1994. He later graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. While there he received Berklee's Contemporary Writing and Production Achievement Award.
