Gerard I. Nierenberg (born 1923) is an American lawyer and author. He was one of the first to realize the role negotiation plays in resolving disputes in personal, business and international relations. His book The Art of Negotiating is a best-selling classic that influenced numerous negotiation books, training sessions, publications and seminars.
Nierenberg promotes an “Everybody Wins” philosophy assures that all parties benefit from the negotiation process over the adversarial “winner takes all” approach.
He went on to found the Negotiation Institute, which is based in New York City.
