Gerald LaValle is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party. He is currently member of the Pennsylvania State Senate who has represented the 47th District since June 4, 1990.

A graduate of Geneva and Westminster Colleges, he is a retired Marine lieutenant colonel.[1]

As of 2007, he is a member of six committees:

  • Appropriations
  • Community, Economic & Recreational Development
  • Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure
  • Education
  • Law & Justice
  • Transportation

He is the ranking member of the Appropriations and Community Economic & Recreational Development Committees. Meanwhile, in his party's caucus, as of 2007 he is the Minority Appropriations Committee Chairman and was the Minority Caucus Secretary from 2005 to 2007.[1]

Lavalle is under investigation for nearly $50,000 in "unauthorized" compensation paid to his wife Darla by a non-profit funded by state grants. [2]

Lavalle has announced that he will not seek re-election in 2008. [3]
