Category talk:Germanic culture

I've sent out various messages to nation articles to ask for discussion on whether certain entries are appropriate or not. I fear that some entires (if not most - certainly the Caribbean and Latin American entries (Brazil) which have been removed) are innappropriate.-- Zleitzen(talk) 13:54, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm unsure whether Denmark is appropriate. With that exception, those which remain are countries where the German language is spoken. Germanic culture is clearly about the culture of German-speaking people, not Germanic-speaking people. Angus McLellan (Talk) 15:09, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Apparently, "Germanic culture" is occasionally used to refer to "German-speaking culture", that usage is ambiguous, though... 惑乱 分からん 00:00, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

If you are going to include Denmark in anything, it should be Nordic or Scandinavian culture. You cannot just include Denmark in Germanic culture. If you do, then how the hell are you catergorizing what is Germanic? If you are categorizing it linguistically, then yes Danish is Germanic, but so is Norwegian and Swedish and Icelandic and Faroese, but you have not included those have you? Culturally Denmark is more Scandinavian than it is Germanic, and if you are catergorizing it culturally then Denmark should not be here. If you doing it linguistically, than the other Nordic countries must be here as well. Categorizing countries where German is spoken as Germanic is a very very poor method of categorization. Countries where German is spoken are GERMAN SPEAKING COUNTRIES not GERMANIC CULTURE COUNTRIES

What? Don't mix up "German" and "Germanic".... 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * 09:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Now, the category apparently uses Germanic in the sense "German speaking Europe", which seems ambiguous and a poor choice. 惑乱 分からん * \)/ (\ (< \) (2 /) /)/ * 09:22, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] This is a category of things pertaining to the culture of countries where the German language is in use?

Because there live 20.000 German speaking country bumpkins at the German border in South Jutland County, Denmark. Doesnt it mean than Denmark is a German language culture, or what ever you want this article refer to. --Arigato1 08:01, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
