George Sarris, Producer, The New York Underground Comedy Festival started his career on Wall St. as a messenger and worked his way up to a seat on The New York Stock Exchange after 20 years on the street walked away to follow his true passion, Stand-Up Comedy and created on of the biggest comedy festivals in the country.

The New York Underground Comedy Festival was started in 2003 with 3 shows in 3 nights at The Laurie Beechman Theatre with the vision of showcasing emerging comedians. The festival has grown to all five boroughs including numerous charity events including Hospital shows, library shows, woman shelter shows and a special charity show for the V.F.W's Operation UpLink, a charity that sends phone cards to our servicemen and woman oveseas to phone home.

Through the years The New York Underground Comedy Festival has evolved into one of the biggest and most charitable comedy festivals in country helping both through charity and showcasing comedians not afforded the opportunity to be seen by the industry.

With the help of Eddie Brill, (Talent Coordinator, "The Late Show/David Letterman), Jim Mendrinos, (Author, Comedian), "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Comedy Writing. The festival is one of the most eclectic in the country, with appearances from everyone from Freddie Roman, Dean of The New York Friars Club, Joe Franklin, to the hottest emerging comedians in the country.


George Sarris born October 10th 1961 in New York City was raised in Larchmont, NY. After attending New Rochelle High School started down on Wall St as a messenger and worked his way up to a seat on The New York Stock Exchange. In 1997 he was made a partner in one of Wall Street's oldest most pretigious specialist firms on the exchange, Wagner Stott LLC.

2001 Wagner Stott LLC. was bought out by Bear Hunter lead by John Mulhern. Sarris choose to walk away from Wall Street and create one of the countries largest comedy festivals based in chariable works and helping emerging comedians realize there dreams.

Numerous comedians who've performed in The New York Underground Comedy Festival have gone onto appear on Comedy Central, "The E! Entertainment Network and "The Late Show/David Letterman.

In 2007 George Sarris, Jim Mendrinos and Burt Smooth announced their latest project, The Harlem Comedy Festival.
