My research is focused at the moment on the history and philosophy of geography, geographical knowledge, and the landscape. I've taught in the areas of history, philosophy, environmental studies, and labor studies at several colleges in the Northeastern United States. I've also worked occasionally as a consultant history and geography. I've had a series of varied projects and jobs, including political analyst, journal editor, wilderness guide, art museum employee, and lamp repairman, to name a few. I keep a modest library of books and maps--mostly in history, geography, and philosophy--and do informal fieldwork (or random exploration of interesting landscapes, I could say) when I get a chance. I began contributing to Wikipedia by adding to the existing Misquah Hills article, and hope to contribute more in the future on lesser known or otherwise out-of-the-way geographical areas.
