I am a young American male. I study biology and physics at Virginia Tech. In addition to these interests, I am also interested in (though perhaps less facile with) mathematics, philosophy (particularly epistemology and ethics), literature, linguistics, creative writing, psychology, computer science, and a number of other things as well. Professionally, I am most interested in ethology, ecology, and evolution, as well as physiology (especially neurology and endocrinology), mostly as it pertains to animal behavior.

I consider myself to be a Humanist; my lifestance is generally well characterized by the article on the topic. Politically, I tend towards liberalism, and while I tend to feel that the Democrats fail to live up to the liberal ideal, I also belive the Republicans have been captured by fundamentalist and neoconservative interests, and so support the Democrats as the lesser of two evils. While I am positively disposed toward some of the third parties in the US (if the Libertarians and the Greens were our two major parties, I would be a happy man -- plus, think of how much fun the debates would be!), I generally think they are too small (and too non-mainstream) to be effective except at the local level. I do my best to write unbiased articles in spite of my strong opinions.
