[edit] Identity

The full official list of the names, identity numbers and nationalities of all the Guantanamo captives who were held in military detention does not include anyone named Alef Muhammad. It does include three men who were born in 1942, and one man born in 1943:

  • Abdul Baqi, reported to be born in Tark Itmak, Afghanistan, in 1942
  • Mohammad Ilyas, reported to be born in Taman, Pakistan, in 1942
  • Abib Sarajuddin, reported to be born in Zamikhel, Afghanistan, in 1942
  • Haji Mohammed Wazir, reported to be born in Lashkargh City, Afghanistan in 1943

The three men who were born in 1942 were all present for their Combatant Status Review Tribunals. Mohammed Wazir is not listed on the DoD's list of all the captives whose status was considered by a Combatant Status Review Tribunal.

The New York Times reported that Muhammad was from "the Baghran district in Helmand".[1][2][3]

[edit] Quotes

"Is this my fault that I believe in the words, 'There is no God but Allah?'" he said. "Other than that there is no witness and no evidence of my guilt."[1][2][3]

"We had to eat, pray and go to the toilet in the same cell that was 2 meters long and 2 meters wide," he said in disgust.[1][2][3]
