Geograph images are licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 license which allow commercial use - placing the image on Commons allows the image to be used by other Wikimedia projects without each requiring its own copy of the image. |

[edit] Commonality
I've added a template {{geograph}} over at Wikimedia Commons. It's similar, but uses the geograph image number, instead of the grid reference code. Arguably, since geograph pictures are Creative Commons licensed, they would be better always posted over there, but that's a matter for discussion.
