I removed a passage asserting that Sutherland was the last justice to sport a full beard. Justice Scalia showed up for the opening of October Term 1996 with a full beard. Heaventree of Stars 01:25, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Correct, and I believe he wore the beard for that entire Term, then removed it before the next one. The change in his appearance so amused the Court staff that it wound up being noted in the official Journal of Supreme Court proceedings, as available on www.supremecourtus.gov. But Sutherland could be called the last Justice to wear a beard regularly or something of that nature, if this is of interest. Newyorkbrad 01:27, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
