Talk:George Spencer-Churchill, 5th Duke of Marlborough

[edit] removed inappropriate "[sic]"
The quotation from Harriet Arbuthnot used to read, in part: "The present Duke is overloaded with debt, is very little better than a common swindler and lets [sic] everything about Blenheim." The "[sic]" is inappropriate because the use of "let" in this sentence is as a verb, a synonym to "lease." In modern language we might say: "He leases everything he can all around Blenheim." This is clear in the context of the next sentence, which begins: "People may shoot and fish at so much per hour . . . ." So I removed the "[sic]". Laura1822 02:17, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
