[edit] George Barret, Sr.

I don't care what one library in Monaco says. The canonical spelling, via reliable sources - specifically the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and Tate Gallery - is Barret. If you have some reliable source(s) that say it's Barrett, cite it/them and we can include it as an alternative. Gordonofcartoon 02:09, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

It is already cited [1], intially by the user MadMax who created the article. Barrett's last name is ambiguous as he was born into the Barrett family but somehow lost a t through the years. Regardless, it is of little significance. -RiverHockey 19:11, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
The Getty Artists name list, which is the most authoritative source, and exhaustive on variants, only gives Barret [2]. We don't normally mention most of the variants they do give, so shouldn't mention one they don't. But he should be "the elder" really. Johnbod 19:54, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
