"The construction of dams on the Nile... transformed the mighty river into a large and predictable irrigation ditch." Isn't that a bit harsh? "Ditch" implies something dug on purpose; the Nile may be impounded, but it's still mostly in its own channel. Aldenrw 19:27, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
