State Route 306 is a west-east route located entirely in Forsyth County, Georgia. From its western terminus at S.R. 20 west of Cumming, the route arcs north and west around downtown Cumming to S.R. 9. The routes cosign north. S.R. 306 then departs S.R. 9 traveling to the east to its interchange at U.S. 19/S.R. 400 at U.S. 19/S.R. 400's northernmost interchange. The route continues east through northern Forsyth County to reach its eastern terminus at S.R. 53 west of Lake Lanier.
